Export of Handicraft Items Environmentally Friendly


Eco-friendly craft products attractive export market. Indonesia is considered to have potential for developing such products because of the availability of raw materials.

Panzuri Amir, director of the Craft Industry Development Association of the Republic of Indonesia (APIKRI), said handicraft products made from environmentally friendly raw materials export market demand. This opens opportunities for Indonesian exports .

The purpose of raw materials does not damage the environment is not the raw materials derived from mineral. Raw materials were also not rare and is not renewable (can be developed again).

Environmentally friendly products, said Amir, like fiber woven pandanus leaves. Raw materials are taken from the pandanus plant. Other raw materials such as bamboo, sengon, mahogany and sonokeling.

Mengandeng APIKRI fiber crafters in the District Kulonprogo develop pandanus plants in the region Kulonprogo Congot Beach County, the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Although this plant has been grown in the region Congot Beach. However, this plant is wild or not treated communities.

A total of 5000 stems planted pandanus plant began in May 2008. They hope that two years later pandan leaf fibers that can be used as a grill.
