Only 80% decrease in Short Time

Cirebon rattan export numbers from year to year continue to decrease. Throughout 2010, for example, the figure is only about 500-600 containers per month, whereas in 2005 and could reach 3000 containers per month.

"Reduced incredible, up 80 percent in just this short time," said former Chairman of Indonesian Furniture Association (ASMINDO) are also entrepreneurs in the Cirebon rattan Soenoto, Wednesday (10 / 3).

The reduced number of rattan exports, said Soenoto not caused by reduced raw material. In fact, the number of rattan raw materials in Indonesia is very much. 90 percent of the world rattan raw materials in Indonesia, including Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

The cause, is clearly Soenoto Cirebon rattan export market has been captured by the Chinese. "The cleverness, the Chinese won, Indonesian rattan handicraft export market. China buy raw materials from Indonesia and made crafts and dieksporlah to another country," said Soenoto.

If it is so, some countries refused to accept Indonesian rattan since the price, far cheaper Chinese-made. As a result, many of the rattan industry in Cirebon are bankrupt and no longer able to absorb labor.
